Q: What nationalities can apply?
A: Only Russian citizens, who live in Russia, are eligible for the program.
Q: Can I participate in the program if my major is not science or technology?
A: Yes, the program invites applications from students in all fields of study. While the program will have a science and technology component, the overall goal of the program is to study the application of technological innovations in various fields, such as cross-cultural communication, community service and volunteering, youth leadership, English learning, and other areas. Applicants are strongly encouraged to describe in their essay how they envision the use of technology in their respective fields and for their professional growth.
Q: I am an international student studying in Russia. Can I apply?
A: The INSPIRE program is open only to Russian citizens. International students currently studying at a Russian university are not eligible to apply for this program.
Q: Are there any fees? Do I have to pay for anything?
A: INSPIRE covers all necessary costs for the program, including roundtrip international airfare and domestic airfare, meals, accommodation, health insurance, and living stipends.
Q: When will the program take place?
A: INSPIRE will take place over four weeks in July 2026. Finalists must also commit to traveling to a third country in spring or early summer to receive a visa, and to spending time implementing their community service project for 1-2 weeks following their return from the United States. Exact dates will be provided further into the selection process.
Q: Where in the U.S. will the program take place?
A: Participants will attend workshops at a university in the United States and stay with a local host family. Host cities and universities vary. In the final week of the program, participants will travel to Washington, D.C. for a closing session comprising of workshops and visits to various cultural sites.
Q: What documents will I need to submit with the application?
A: Interested candidates will need to submit their resume and essay and upload copies of their high school diploma, transcript, and international passport.
Q: What should be included in my resume?
A: Your resume should be no more than 1 page in length and list academic and professional experience. Applicants could include information such as relevant coursework, volunteering or work experience, awards or certifications, and more. You are welcome to use any resume template you prefer.
Q: Can I upload my domestic passport if I currently do not have an international passport?
A: Yes, if you do not have an international passport when applying you can submit a domestic passport.
If you become a finalist, you must have a valid international passport by February 28, 2026. The international passport must be valid at least until February 28, 2027. The INSPIRE program recommends to apply for a biometric passport.
Q: Can I travel outside the United States?
A: During their exchange, INSPIRE students can only travel domestically within the United States. International travel will only be permitted for emergency situations that require students to return to Russia.
